NEI Audacious Goal Initiative: Addressing Technical Needs and Opportunities for Imaging the Visual System (U01)
Project Focus: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage submission of new, innovative, transformative projects to address the technical needs and opportunities in the field of visual system imaging in order to focus and enable research efforts towards achieving the goals of the AGI.
Eligibility: Any individual(s) with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research as the Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PD(s)/PI(s)) is invited to work with his/her organization to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
Project Duration & Funding: $700k per yer/ 5 year maximum

Consortium to Alleviate PTSD
Project Focus: This RFA is intended to solicit research pre-proposals that meet the goals and objectives of the CAP and have significant potential for the alleviation of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related conditions for a nation of active duty military and Veterans.
Eligibility: • Independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent) are eligible to submit applications.
• Organizations eligible to apply include national, for-profit, non-profit, public, and private organizations.
• There must be an eligible investigator at a Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center or a VA Approved Site to be eligible for any funding available from the VA.

Parkinson’s Disease Foundation – International Research Grants Program
Project Focus: To support novel “high risk/ high reward” research that will generate preliminary data necessary for future funding
Eligibility: Applicants must be independent investigators possessing postdoctoral training or a medical degree, with clinical, pre-clinical or basic research proposals that will directly impact Parkinson’s disease or its treatment
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $150,000 over two years
Due Date: mid-November (Letter of Intent)

Sidney Kimmel Foundation – Kimmel Scholar Award
Project Focus: To support young investigators dedicated to a career in cancer research
Eligibility: Applicants must hold an MD, PhD or equivalent graduate degree
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $200,000 over two years
Due Date: 12/5/2012

Sidney Kimmel Foundation – The Kimmel Translational Science Award
Project Focus: To support young investigators dedicated to a career in cancer research
Eligibility: Applicants must have achieved the equivalent rank of Assistant Professor on or after July, 2009. However physicians who have both clinical and research responsibility are eligible if appointed on or after July 2008
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $200,000 over two years

The Dana Foundation – Clinical Neuroscience Research Grant Program
Project Focus: To support clinical researchers with new therapies and treatment in neuroscience
Eligibility: Junior and senior level investigators are eligible to apply
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $300,000 over three years

Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research – LRRK2 Challenge 2012
Project Focus: To support work that can significantly contribute to a better understanding of the gene/protein leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), its relevance to Parkinson’s disease (PD) and effective ways to translate LRRK2 research into therapies for patients.
Eligibility: Postdoctoral fellows are NOT eligible to apply as Principal Investigators to this program.
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $125,000 over one year

Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research – Neurotrophic Factors Challenge 2012
Project Focus: To support work that can accelerate neurotrophic factor therapeutic development for Parkinson’s disease.
Eligibility: Postdoctoral students or fellows are not eligible to apply as principal or co-principal investigators for this program.
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $125,000 over one year
Due Date: Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis

Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research – Dyskinesia Challenge 2012
Project Focus: To engage researchers and drug makers focused on studying and/or therapeutically treating levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID).
Eligibility: Proposals may be submitted by US and non-US entities, public and private non-profit entities, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, laboratories, units of state and local governments, and eligible agencies of the federal government and for-profit entities. Postdoctoral students or fellows are not eligible to apply as principal or co-principal investigators for this program.
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $125,000 over one year
Due Date: Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis

Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research – Rapid Response Innovation Awards
Project Focus: To provide support to high-risk, high-reward projects with little to no existing preliminary data, but with potential to significantly impact our understanding or treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Eligibility: Proposals may be submitted by US and non-US biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies or other for-profit entities, either publicly or privately held. US and non-US entities, public and private non-profit entities, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, laboratories, units of state and local governments, and eligible agencies of the federal government. Postdoctoral fellows are eligible to apply as Principal Investigator (PI), but must collaborate with an Administrative PI who serves as the director of the laboratory in which the research will be conducted. The foundation encourages industry and academic collaborations.
Project Duration & Funding: Up to $75,000 over one year (includes both direct and indirect costs)
Due Date: Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis.
